Our Story

Gallery Music Centre is part of the Ministry of Education's Out-of-Hours Music and Arts Programme, operating every Saturday morning at Dyer Street School in Lower Hutt. Our programme provides affordable group music lessons for primary and intermediate school-aged children, with classes subsidised by the Ministry of Education to keep costs as low as possible for families.

Supported by a dedicated volunteer committee, Gallery Music Centre is a true community organisation. Our teachers are highly qualified, passionate musicians who are committed to nurturing the next generation of music-makers in the Hutt Valley.

Over the years, Gallery Music Centre has grown to offer tuition across more than ten instruments, from Music Basics for our youngest learners through to orchestra for experienced players of all ages. We're proud to be a welcoming, inclusive space where children can discover the joy of making music together.
